Up to this point, this documentation has covered the structure of a project and the tools used to build and manage it. This section introduces the broader framework through which teams organize their work and collaborate on shared projects: the workspace.

## What workspaces are

A workspace serves as a collaborative environment where users can create, manage, and share [projects](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/projects) with their team.

Users can create multiple workspaces, invite members, and assign them specific [roles](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/roles). These roles determine the level of access and permissions members have within the workspace, including control over its projects and configuration.

Each workspace operates independently and maintains its own set of projects, members, settings, billing information, and API keys.

Each workspace includes the following sections:

- [People](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/people): Manage members, guests, and invitations to join the workspace.
- [Roles](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/roles): See available roles and their permissions.
- [Settings](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/settings): Configure workspace settings and change billing plan.
- [Billing](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/billing): Set up invoicing, review billing history, and monitor detailed usage.
- [API](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/api): Access and manage the workspace's [API keys](https://docs.arcweave.com/rest-api/overview) for external integrations.

In addition, the [workspace list](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/list) (located at the top left of the workspace window) lets you switch between your workspaces or create new ones.

> ℹ️ Each section appears only to users whose [role](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/roles#list-of-permissions) includes the required permission: **View memberships** or **Manage memberships** for People, **Manage roles** for Roles, **Manage workspace** for Settings, **Manage billing** or **Manage workspace** for Billing, and **View API keys** for API. The default **Owner** role includes all of them.
