# Arcweave's AI tools

Arcweave's AI tools are designed to assist and enhance your creative workflow. They automate routine tasks, help refine your content, and offer intelligent suggestions to support your design process. They are built to complement your creativity, so you can focus more on what matters most in your project.

All workspace plans include Arcweave's AI tools and each plan has a different monthly AI credit allowance.

## Access requirements

To use any AI tool, including the Design Assistant, you need [permission to edit the project](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/roles). AI must also be [enabled for the workspace](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/ai-features/overview#toggle-ai-features), and the workspace must have enough credits for the action.

## Monthly AI credits

Credits are shared across the workspace and reset at **00:00 UTC on the first day of each calendar month**, independently of your subscription's billing date.

## AI credit costs

Each AI action consumes credits from the workspace's monthly allowance:

- **Design Assistant**: 1 AI credit per message, however many steps the assistant takes
- **Element Generator**: 1 AI credit per generation
- **Element Enhancer**: 1 AI credit per enhancement
- **Image Generator**: 5 AI credits per image

Arcweave shows each action's credit cost in the interface. If your workspace does not have enough credits left for an action, Arcweave blocks it and shows the reset date. If an action fails, for example because the AI service returns an error, its credits are not consumed. A Design Assistant message is charged once its first edit succeeds or its answer completes, so a message that fails or is stopped after making edits, or while an edit is being applied, still uses its credit. Users with **Manage billing** or **Manage workspace** permission, such as workspace Owners, can track current usage from the [Billing](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/billing#ai-usage) section.

## Prompt limits

The prompt fields in the editor have the following limits:

## Toggle AI features

The **Workspace AI functionality** toggle allows you to enable or disable all AI-powered tools within your workspace. Turning it off disables the entire suite, including the Design Assistant, Element Generator, Element Enhancer, and Image Generator.

AI functionality is enabled by default for new workspaces. Changing it requires the **Manage workspace** permission.

To toggle the AI functionality:

1. Open your **Workspace** and go to **Settings**.
2. Locate the **Workspace AI functionality** toggle.
3. Switch it on / off.
4. Click **Save** in the unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the window.
