# Image Generator

Source: https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/ai-features/image-generator
Section: Project Tools > AI tools
Description: How to generate image assets using Arcweave's AI tools

The Image Generator lets you create images for your prototypes using generative AI. You can access it from several places in the app:

- The **Assets** section (left sidebar)
- When setting an element cover
- When setting a component cover

The Image Generator follows the shared [AI access requirements](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/ai-features/overview#access-requirements). Prompts entered in the Image Generator can contain up to **3,000 characters**.

> ℹ️ Each image generation costs **5 AI credits** from your workspace's monthly allowance. See [monthly AI credits by workspace plan](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/ai-features/overview#monthly-ai-credits).

## AI settings

Context: Arcweave docs > Project Tools > AI tools > Image Generator > AI settings

In your [project settings](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/settings) (accessible from the top menu), you'll find an option for accessing the **AI Settings**.

1. Click the **Settings** cog and select **AI Settings...** from the dropdown.
2. Optionally add project-wide guidance for image generation:

   - Fill in the **Image Generation Guidelines** to define the art style rules for the images you generate. You can specify guidelines, preferred styles, or any other instructions you want applied to all image creations across the app.
   - Drag image assets from the **Assets** sidebar into **Attached Style References** to use them as visual guides for palette, mood, lighting, texture, and rendering style.

> ℹ️ Attached style references are treated as style guides by default. They do not cause Arcweave to copy the specific characters, props, places, or compositions shown in those images unless you explicitly ask for that in your prompt.

> ℹ️ If you add attached style references, you can mention them by name in your prompt to steer the generated result more precisely.

## Use from the Assets section

   - **Vertical**: 1024 x 1536

   - **Custom**: Enter a width and height. Each side must be a multiple of 16 pixels and at most 3,840 pixels, the image must contain between 655,360 and 8,294,400 pixels, and the longest side can be at most 3 times the shortest.
5. Optionally, check **Transparent background (PNG)**.
6. Enter a prompt describing what you want to generate.
7. Click **Generate**.
8. After the image is generated, click **Import in Asset List** to add it to the project's Assets section.

> ℹ️ To generate an image directly into an asset folder, right-click the folder (or click the **+** that appears when you hover over it) and select **Generate asset...**
