# Share & export

Description: Quick tour of sharing projects with collaborators or viewers and exporting them to other formats and game engines

Arcweave makes it easy to share your work with others to review and collaborate.

## Share to collaborate

Context: Arcweave docs > Introduction > Quick tour > Share & export > Share to collaborate

The simplest way to collaborate in Arcweave is by sharing just one project.

> ℹ️ For advanced team management features like role control and workspace-wide visibility, see [Workspaces](https://docs.arcweave.com/introduction/quick-tour/workspace). (Next page)

![The Arcweave window showing an open project and its "Share" modal. The modal allows the user to invite more collaborators to the project and to configure the project's private or public state.](https://docs.arcweave.com/assets/share.Dygv2dx1.png)

To collaborate with others on your project:

1. Click the **Share** button in the top menu.
2. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
3. Choose their role: **Commenter** or **Editor**.
4. Click **Invite**. Repeat these steps to invite more people.

Inviting people requires the [**Manage memberships**](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/roles#list-of-permissions) permission, which workspace owners have by default. In Pro and Team workspaces, the **Editor** role is marked **Billable**, because guest editors occupy a paid [seat](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/billing-plans#seats). Commenters are free.

Your collaborators will receive an email invitation to join the project. Once they accept, you'll be able to work together in real time. Your updates will sync instantly across all team members.

To point a collaborator to a specific board or item, use its **Copy link** menu action. The link opens that destination in the language you are currently viewing. See [Share an item or board position](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/share#share-an-item-or-board-position) for supported items and menu locations.

## Share to view & play

Context: Arcweave docs > Introduction > Quick tour > Share & export > Share to view & play

You can generate a public, **read-only link** to share your project externally:

1. Click the **Share** button in the top menu.
2. In the dropdown next to **Anyone with the link**, choose one of the following:
   - **Can play only**: Allows people to play your project without viewing its design.
   - **Can view & play**: Also grants read-only access to the project's design: its boards, components, and variables.
3. Click **copy link** under **Anyone with the link** to copy the project's link.

This makes it easy to share progress with testers or clients without inviting them as collaborators. It also lets you distribute your project in a playable form while keeping the design private.

> ✅ You can also [embed your project's Play Mode in HTML](https://docs.arcweave.com/project-tools/share#embed-play-mode-in-html), allowing users to play it in its own window on a webpage.

## Export

Context: Arcweave docs > Introduction > Quick tour > Share & export > Export

Arcweave supports multiple export formats to help you share, present, or integrate your narrative data into other platforms and game engines.

![The Arcweave window showing an open project and its "Export" modal currently open at the "Engine" tab, showing options for Export for Godot, Unity and Unreal. There is also a checkbox for including the project assets in the exported zip file.](https://docs.arcweave.com/assets/export_engine.BesxZF0i.png)

To export your project:

1. Click the **Export project** icon in the top menu.
2. Choose from the available formats:
   - **JSON**: Fully structured data for integration into any platform.
   - **Spreadsheet**: Your project's data as CSV files or, in Pro/Team workspaces, an XLSX file, for review, analysis, or translation.
   - **Image**: Printable version of your project's boards for presentations or reviews.
   - **Engine**: JSON exports that work with our official Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot Engine [integrations](https://docs.arcweave.com/integrations/overview).
   - **Markdown**: A text document of your story, for proofreading or sharing dialogue with voice actors (Pro/Team workspaces only).
   - **PDF**: Lossless printable version of your project's boards (Pro/Team workspaces only).
   - **Backup**: Save your project on your drive as a backup (Pro/Team workspaces only).

These export formats make it easy to adapt your Arcweave project to different workflows.

> ℹ️ You can bring exported JSON files, and backup files in Pro/Team workspaces, back into Arcweave by [importing projects](https://docs.arcweave.com/workspaces/projects#import-projects) in your workspace.

> ✅ To **automate import and export** as part of your pipeline, use the [REST API](https://docs.arcweave.com/rest-api/overview) (Team workspaces only).
